PROGRAM INFORMATION

Why take a vocational course in Australia

VET (Vocational Education and Training) is Australia's professional training system: courses with a heavy practical load that prepare you for a specific job, taught by private schools registered under CRICOS. Depending on the course, that practice takes different forms, from workshops and applied projects to certified hours in a real workplace, but always with the same goal: you leave knowing how to do the job, not just explain it. You finish with a qualification recognised across Australia.

You train for the job, not for the exam.

These courses teach you by doing. You spend time in a workshop, a gym or a kitchen, not just a classroom. You leave with a certificate or a diploma and the practical hours behind it. When you want to go further, you step up to a higher-level course and keep studying.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What we always get asked on the first call

Can I work while studying a VET?

Yes. The Student Visa allows you to work up to 48 hours every two weeks during the academic term, and unlimited hours during official course breaks. Many VET students end up working in the same sector they study, which adds real experience to their qualification. We tell you how much people earn and where to look in our guide to working in Australia.

Usually an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, though it varies depending on the course and the school. If you do not have an official test, most centers do their own placement test. And if you still do not reach it, the usual thing is to start with an English course and link it to the VET within the same visa plan.

It depends on your nationality. Australia classifies countries by immigration risk levels (assessment levels), and students from level 1 or 2 nationalities are normally not required to prove funds in advance, although Immigration can request them at any stage of the process. If you are required to demonstrate them, the reference figure is AUD 29,710 per year for living expenses, in addition to your course tuition and return ticket. For shorter stays, it is calculated proportionally. Bank statements or a guarantor letter will work. You have the details in our guide on documents for your visa.

You can move up to a higher-level course, from a Certificate to a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma, by renewing the student visa for each new course. Many students chain two or three levels together and end up staying for several years. You can also explore post-study visa pathways depending on the sector. We plan this with you on the first call.
