PROGRAM INFORMATION

Why study at a New Zealand university?

New Zealand has eight public universities, all within the NZQCF, the national qualifications framework. Degrees are internationally recognized and the system is very similar to the British one. But what truly sets New Zealand apart is what happens after you graduate. A Level 7 qualification or higher gives you access to the Post Study Work Visa, an open work permit of up to three years: you can work for any company, in any sector, without needing a prior job offer. Three years is more than what Australia or Ireland offer for most profiles, and it is enough time to build a real career and explore residency pathways.

Three years to build your career.

With a Master's degree (Level 9), you get the full three years of an open work permit. With a Bachelor's degree (Level 7) or a postgraduate certificate/diploma (Level 8), the duration matches the time you have studied, with a minimum of 30 weeks full-time. And starting in November 2026, it will be extended to those who take a Level 7 Graduate Diploma while already having a prior degree from any country, with a permit of up to one year.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What everyone asks us on the first call.

How long can I stay to work upon graduation?

Up to three years with a master's or doctoral degree. With a bachelor's or postgraduate degree, the duration matches the time you studied full-time in New Zealand, with a minimum of 30 weeks. It is an open visa: you work for whoever you want, in whatever sector you want. It is only granted once per person, so it is best to plan carefully which qualification you take.

Universities usually ask for around an IELTS 6.0 for an undergraduate degree and 6.5 for a master's, although it varies by program. If you don't reach it yet, you can start with an English course and link it to the university within the same plan.

Yes, up to 25 hours per week during the academic term, and full-time during holidays. We tell you how much you get paid and how taxes work in our guide to working in New Zealand.

New Zealand Immigration requires proof of 20,000 NZD per year for living expenses, in addition to the full tuition fee and the return ticket. The funds must be traceable: they ask for bank statements of at least three months. You have it detailed in our guide to visas for New Zealand.
